Domain Branding And Domain Name Brands

Alot of times I have people asking me “What do you think would be a great brand for my website?”, they then give me a wide array of domains such as: Pleskia.com, Darus.com, Sallsy.com. While these may sound great and you see some corporate giants with brandable names I do not believe them the best for an online presence.

Look at some of the corporate giants online: MySpace.com, YouTube.com, FaceBook.com and others. While these may be brandable you also get a sense of what the website does, on top of that they’re catchy and fun. Let’s take other online brands into account: CheapFlights.com, Travelocity.com (”Travel-O-City” hmmm..), Shopzilla.com, OverStock.com etc.. These names are more on target as to what the company does.

I believe that the domain should match your goals, if you are looking to start a video site on music videos than something a little more brandable would do fine. On the other hand, if you’re selling posters online catchy is good but you want the name to describe what you do, a domain name is the first thing your prospects see so it is best served describing your intent! In this case, PosterMart.com might be a better fit SEO and intent wise than Ploosh.com .

SEO, also known as Search Engine Optimization, assists companies in promoting their businesses by getting them higher rankings on the top search engines, such as Yahoo, Google and MSN. Whether you are running a small business or are an owner of big business, you want to gain exposure and customers. For this purpose, you have to put your business online and then have to hire a marketing company. Before going to choose an SEO company, you should make sure that the company specializes in enhancing search rankings and page rank value …
